Ever been stuck on ideas when travelling the country? Or have you wanted to try something creatively tasty instead of sausages and mash every night? We’ve got some great camp food ideas for you that are simple, tasty and fast for those quick stopovers and final nights.

Whilst we’d love to be feasting on a roast buffet every night we’re on holiday, we all understand that that’s not always going to be the case-especially in those remote locations on our final few nights when we already ate most of the food. Luckily for us, bangers and mash exists! But what if you’ve had that the last few nights-one of our favourite recipes is for those leftovers that you don’t know what to do with. You can cook this in your caravans oven or the trusty old camp oven. Start with any leftover meat and get it heated before adding any veggies-leftover or fresh-and beans etc. Season it a little bit and you’ve got a mini stir fry! Add some water and pasta and you have a pasta bake! Choose to do it with rice and you’ve made yourself a chow mein! The possibilities are endless with this one.

With limited storage, we want to take up as little room as possible, so sauce sachet’s have become our best friend! A favourite being teriyaki chicken. Consisting of chicken thighs and a sachet of teriyaki sauce, it pairs great with rice, mash or salad and can feed as many people as you’d like. Or eat it just as chicken, put it on some bread to make one of the tastiest sandwiches you’ll ever have!

Speaking of sandwiches-we’re going to share with you a very beloved recipe from an old friend. Now you may think this is just a chicken and mayo sandwich but hold out on judgement for when you eat it because it is simply delicious in every way. You can even prepare the mix beforehand and have it sitting in the fridge for a few days into your trip. Mix roast chicken with mayo, white vinegar, iceberg lettuce and almonds and don’t forget to add salt and pepper. Mix it all around, put it on some bread and enjoy the delicious mix of yumminess of Mrs. Mac’s sandwiches.

If you were looking for something a little more able to be forgotten, one of the best options is a stew. A favourite we have is beef stew: a slow cooked slab of beef with veggies. This is one that works amazing in a camp oven! All you’ve got to do is put everything in the pot, fill it with water and add some seasoning if you so desire. We usually stick with the basic veggies; potato, onion, garlic and carrot-but you can put anything and everything you’d like in there and just leave it to cook while you go off to adventure on your holiday. It can work with any slab of meat or a whole carcass-even chicken necks. It’s cheap and can serve as many or as little amount of people as you’d like!

And finally, one of our all-time favourite camping foods-burgers. You can prepare and store the patties for when you need. Simply combine mince, onion, breadcrumbs/flour, egg and your favourite spices and you’ve got your patties! Grab some buns along the way and you’re all set!
